Colin retired, as a senior police officer, following a varied career in the service including road policing, training, career development as well as uniform duties with management responsibilities. He specialised in road policing and collision investigation formed a major part of his expertise. He also was involved in the training of officers of all ranks in the management of firearms related incidents.

After retirement Colin has used his skills and interest in road safety to lecture on traffic and transport at B-tech level and has conducted motorcycle training for beginners as well as for more advanced riding.
Colin also acts as a legal clerk for education tribunals
